Downtown Naples: Third Street and Fifth Avenue
Downtown is where to eat in Naples if you want to walk from drinks to dinner. Third Street South has Campiello, an Italian courtyard restaurant at 1177 Third St S, and Sea Salt across the street at 1186, the dress-up option. On Fifth Avenue South, Bha! Bha! Persian Bistro sits right at our downtown reference point, Tulia Osteria is at the west end, and Ocean Prime at 699 Fifth Ave S is the group-dinner pick, with Truluck's a block north on Fourth Avenue.
If you want to walk to dinner every night, stay downtown: Inn on Fifth is on Fifth Avenue, and Hyatt House Naples/5th Avenue and the cheaper Holiday Inn Express Naples Downtown sit at its east end, a longer walk from the main blocks. All three are a drive from the courses.
Crayton Cove and Tin City: dinner on the water
A few blocks south of Third Street, Crayton Cove has The Dock, a casual waterfront seafood restaurant at 845 12th Ave S on Naples Bay, near the City Dock and busy at sunset in season. Bleu Provence, a French restaurant, is a block away. At the other end of Fifth Avenue, Tin City's old fishing sheds hold Pinchers, and Kelly's Fish House Dining Room is an old-style seafood house on the water at 1302 Fifth Ave S. Both are close to US 41, an easy stop on the way back from Lely Resort's Flamingo Island and the other East Naples courses.
North Naples: Vanderbilt Beach, Park Shore and Mercato
North Naples is where most visitors play, because Tiburon and the I-75 courses are there:
- After Tiburon: The Capital Grille at Mercato, at US 41 and Vanderbilt Beach Road, is about 10 minutes from Tiburon's Gold and Black courses and an easy group dinner.
- On the beach: The Turtle Club at 9225 Gulf Shore Dr on Vanderbilt Beach, and Baleen, the Gulf-front restaurant at LaPlaya Beach & Golf Resort. LaPlaya's guests are the only visitors who can play LaPlaya Golf Club, a few miles inland; see the LaPlaya Golf Club guide.
- Park Shore: USS Nemo Undersea Cuisine on Tamiami Trail N, handy for Pelican Bay and Park Shore bases.
Bonita Springs and Estero
The middle of the map is more casual. Doc's Beach House is a beach bar and grill beside Bonita Beach Park, Pelican Larry's in Estero is a sports-bar seafood spot from a local chain, and Blue Water Beach Grill sits on the Miromar Lakes beach near the outlets and Hertz Arena. Hyatt Place Fort Myers/Coconut Point lets you walk to the Coconut Point restaurants and is minutes from Saltleaf. The full-service Hyatt Regency Coconut Point next door runs a water taxi to a private beach on Big Hickory Island, and the Coconut Point center itself is a large open-air shopping and dining complex off US 41, with a PGA TOUR Superstore for the morning after.
Downtown Fort Myers and Cape Coral
The River District is the Fort Myers night out. Ford's Garage at 2207 First St serves burgers and beer, a nod to Henry Ford's winter home a mile down McGregor Boulevard; Twisted Vine Bistro is a wine bar at 2214 Bay St; and there is another Pinchers on West First Street. Stay at the Luminary Hotel or Hotel Indigo to walk to all three. Fort Myers Country Club is about 7 minutes from the Luminary, and Eastwood about 13; the Fort Myers Country Club guide covers rates.
Across the river, Rumrunners is a waterfront restaurant in the Cape Harbour marina village in Cape Coral.
Sanibel and Captiva
On Sanibel, The Island Cow on Periwinkle Way is a casual all-day standby, and Lazy Flamingo near the causeway end is casual seafood with a bar. The Mucky Duck, an English-style beach pub on Captiva known for its sunsets, is beyond Sanibel and past the causeway toll. Pair dinner with a round at The Dunes; our Sanibel golf guide has the details.
Tips for eating out in season
- Book ahead in February and March, when restaurant waits peak, and avoid Naples Winter Wine Festival weekend for top downtown tables.
- Eat early or late on spring-training days in Fort Myers, when Daniels Parkway traffic peaks before and after games.
- Watch the clock: sunset is around 5:40 pm in early December, so book sunset tables early in winter.
- Check summer hours: some restaurants close for a week or more in August.
