The key number: Is Fallen Oak worth it? What the round really costs and what else that money buys

Is Fallen Oak worth it? For most keen golfers, yes, once. It is regularly ranked the top course in Mississippi, and only resort guests play it. But you must stay at Beau Rivage, the round has no posted price, and the same outlay buys two or three good public rounds elsewhere on the coast.

This guide adds up what a Fallen Oak round costs with the stay it requires, what you get for that money, and what else the same budget buys on the Mississippi coast. Prices are the ones we could find in October 2026; several are estimates, and all of them change, so get a firm quote from Beau Rivage.

Quick facts

  • Access: Fallen Oak is open only to guests of Beau Rivage.
  • Price guide: about $275 for 18 with a cart (GolfLink estimate, October 2026); older packages from $180 per person, double occupancy.
  • Extras: a Beau Rivage room and resort fee ($23.52 a night on a June 2026 tracker).
  • What you get: Tom Fazio, 7,487 yards, 76.5 / 142 from the tips, a quiet sheet and resort transport.
  • Closest alternative: Grand Bear, public, 7,204 yards, 143 slope.

What a Fallen Oak round costs

Nobody publishes a single price, so here is how the pieces stack up.

Because the round comes with a room, compare it as a package, not a green fee. If you would stay in a Biloxi casino anyway, the real extra is the gap between a Beau Rivage night and the room you would otherwise book, plus the round. If you would rather stay somewhere cheaper, the room is part of the cost of Fallen Oak.

Day of week moves the total more than anything else. Biloxi casino hotels cost noticeably more on Friday and Saturday nights. Beau Rivage's one published example, a spring 2023 group block, was $154 Sunday to Thursday and $174 Friday and Saturday plus tax; public rates at other casinos swing much wider. Hollywood Casino, for comparison, was $63.98 on a November 2026 Tuesday and $283.98 on a Saturday. A midweek stay keeps a Fallen Oak trip reasonable. Our guide on getting a Fallen Oak tee time covers the booking steps.

What you get for the money

The best course on the coast. Fallen Oak is regularly ranked the top course in Mississippi (Golf Digest state rankings). It hosted the PGA Tour Champions event for years, and it now hosts the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational each October.

Scale. From the tips it is 7,487 yards, rating 76.5, slope 142, the longest and highest-rated course on the coast. The fairways are wide and the greens big, and a 2014 renovation cut the bunkers from 89 to 65.

Setting and pace. The course rolls through pines and live oaks about 20 miles north of Biloxi. With only resort guests playing, it has a private-club feel.

No logistics. The resort books the time and runs transport to Saucier and back.

What you do not get is a public price or a published window, so you plan around the hotel rather than the course. See the Fallen Oak course guide for the layout.

What the same money buys elsewhere

Take about $275 a golfer, the GolfLink estimate for one Fallen Oak round. Here is what that buys at public courses, using rates seen in October 2026:

Option Rounds Approximate cost per golfer
Fallen Oak (with Beau Rivage stay)1About $275 estimate, plus room
Grand Bear1Not posted; GolfLink estimate about $170
Windance $110 + The Oaks $109 (weekend)2$219
The Bridges $109 + Windance $1102$219
Hollywood Casino Golf Package, unlimited golf at The Bridges1 night + golf that dayFrom $119
Island View Unlimited Golf package at Windance1 night + unlimited golfFrom $99, double occupancy, tax extra
The Preserve fall weekend1$225 (all-inclusive)
The Oaks morning + The Oaks late twilight2$109 + $49 = $158

The two package lines are the striking ones. Hollywood Casino Gulf Coast sells a night with unlimited golf at The Bridges from $119, and Island View sells a night with unlimited golf at Windance from $99. Both are the kind of value a Fallen Oak package cannot match on price. Our Biloxi golf packages guide compares every one.

The best alternatives to Fallen Oak

Grand Bear

The closest like-for-like. Jack Nicklaus's 1999 course is in the De Soto National Forest, also in Saucier, with no homes and the Biloxi River on the closing holes. It is 7,204 yards and 143 slope from the Grizzly Bear tees, and it hosted the PGA Tour Champions Rapiscan Systems Classic in 2022. Anyone can book. See Fallen Oak vs Grand Bear.

The Bridges

Arnold Palmer's marsh course in Bay St. Louis has a higher slope than Fallen Oak (144 from 6,841 yards), the highest slope in the area. It is closed Tuesdays.

Windance and Shell Landing

Windance has the most dependable recent conditioning reviews in Gulfport. Shell Landing in Gautier, 7,023 yards and 134 slope, is the east side's value course, though its rates are not posted.

Is Fallen Oak worth it for your game?

The course is long from the back, but the card has room for most players:

Tee Yards Rating / slope Suits
Tips7,48776.5 / 142Scratch and low single figures
2nd6,93873.7 / 141Strong low handicaps
3rd6,54971.7 / 138Mid handicaps who hit it well
4th6,12370.2 / 131Most mid and high handicaps
5th5,36267.3 / 124 (women 71.1 / 127)Seniors, forward-tee players

The slope stays above 130 down to 6,123 yards, so higher handicaps will find it hard work from anything but the two shortest sets. Is Fallen Oak worth it for a 25-handicap? It can be, if they play the fourth or fifth tees and treat it as an experience rather than a scoring round.

Is Fallen Oak worth it in winter?

The course is inland in Saucier, where NOAA normals put December and January lows at about 41-42F, about 3F colder than the beach, and frost delays are possible. Midday highs are still about 61-64F. Winter is the cheapest time for casino hotels outside holiday weeks and Mardi Gras weekends, so a midday winter round can make the whole package better value.

When Fallen Oak is worth it, and when it is not

Worth it if:

  • You want to play the best course in Mississippi and this is your one trip.
  • You were going to stay at a Biloxi casino anyway and can book Sunday to Thursday.
  • Your group plays from the middle tees and wants a big, quiet course with no logistics.

Probably not if:

  • You are on a tight budget; two public rounds cost less than one Fallen Oak round.
  • Half the group would rather stay somewhere cheaper or quieter; they cannot play.
  • You can only travel on a weekend, when casino rooms cost the most.
  • You want several rounds at one course; the unlimited-golf packages at Hollywood Casino and Island View suit that better.

A common compromise is one Fallen Oak round on a weekday night at Beau Rivage, then the rest of the trip at public courses from a cheaper base. Our Biloxi golf trip cost guide prices a four-day trip at three budget levels, and the best golf courses in Biloxi ranks the rest.
